PwC appointed to new training role

PwC has been appointed as a skills service organisation by the federal department of education and training to work with industry reference committees to improve industry training packages.

“Our mission is to put employers at the heart of Australia’s qualifications and training system,” Sara Caplan, PwC's skills services organisation lead said.

“Being appointed as a skills service organisation gives us a great opportunity to work with industries and businesses across Australia to make sure we are giving people the best opportunity to gain skills that will help them to get fulfilling jobs.”

Ms Caplan said the firm is excited to get started with what is another arm to the firm’s ever diversifying offering.

“We are excited about getting started, finding out where employers feel their biggest skills gaps and shortages are and developing training packages that will support a thriving, globally competitive economy in Australia.”

PwC is one of five organisations appointed as a skills service organisation and will be servicing the following industry sectors:

  • business services
  • cultural and related industries
  • financial services
  • printing and graphic arts
  • information and communication technology
  • education.

As a skills service organisation, PwC will ultimately be responsible for working with industry to:

  • Research what skills are needed in particular industries and businesses, both now and in the future, in order to boost economic growth, and ascertain the right skill sets needed for particular roles.
  • Undertake a revision of qualifications and training standards so that what people learn and are trained in matches what their respective industries and businesses need seeking to develop a population with the best possible chance of developing work ready skills.
